Power Mirror Question
Power Mirror Question
Hello all, great website!
I recently purchased an 01 Lariat Supercab. It has power mirrors but they are not working right. They have a limited range of motion. I have to physically push the mirror out far enough (it clicks in little increments) to adjust it back in using the power controls. If I go too far I have to repeat the process. Does anyone know if this is something I can fix or is it just easier to buy replacement mirrors? Thanks for your insight.

Do the mirrors have a power fold ? If they are the mirror should "reset"
each time it folds. Looking at the mirror: rt side half-way down;PRESS GENTLY until mirror stops ratcheting. It's now RESET.

Remove the switch from the door panel. Then disassemble it and clean the electrical contacts inside the switch housing; should solve the problem.
I had to do this not long ago and discovered that the switch is almost always the issue. If you don't feel energetic enought to disassemble the switch (which is not hard, btw) then the new switch is $20 or less IIRC.

Follow up
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, my attempt to reset the mirrors did not change anything.
For the cleaning suggestion, can I pop the mirror switch out of the door panel with a screwdriver or do I need to remove the whole door panel?
