I have a 2001 F150. My problem is that my radio will lose all power for about 15 to 20 minutes and them turn back on. Also when this happens my dome lights won't work either. I have an aftermarket radio installed (Kenwood). I've changed out the wiring harness for the radio with no help. Would running a new power wire from the radio directly to the fuse box help? Please let me know if any body else has had this problem, I'm stuck.

 

When this happens, it is the dome lamp from the door switch, or the dome lamp with the instrument panel dimer switch or both ways ?

Also, when the radio stops working, do the power windows work ( if installed ) ?

 

dome light is both ways door and switch. Also cigar lighter does not work. No power windows.

 

My buddy had something weird like this happen to his 98 and it turned out to be the battery an/or the alternator, pretty common. Just be careful because it died on him one day while driving so beware. May be a fuse too.

 

I would check fuses and go from there. See if you can dig up a wiring diagram for your truck that would help ALOT. Might be a connector of some sort..... Hard to tell ya w/o bein there to inspect. BUt like I said w a diagram you can get a visual of where the powers going and whats going on.

 

Check the battery terminals.
