1998 Door Lock Problem

I am having problems with my key unlocking my driver's side door. I have to use the passenger side to unlock the truck, then push the power lock to unlock the driver's side door. The power buttons on the inside of the door works fine, just can't open it with a key. Any suggestions? Anyone had this problem? How can I fix it? What parts might I need to get?

Thanks, Becky

I sprayed my key hole with some graphite a couple of days in a row and had no problem for about 6 months before I did it again.

Can't Unlock my Driver Side Door

Hello,

Thank goodness somebody else is feeling my pain! I own a 1999 F-150 with power locks. Just this past week, my driver side door lock started acting up.

The darn key will not turn at all so now I have to unlock the door from the passenger side. I have power locks but can only open the doors via the key.

Please let me know if you came up with a permanent solution.

Dave

Unhappy

If any one has a sollution to this I would be interested. Neither of my doors or tailgate will unlock with the key. If my keyless entry stops working I will not be able to get in the truck.

This might sound dumb, but have you tried your other key ?

If you have a worn down key, it will be harder to work the tumblers, and adding pressure to turning the key, makes this worse.

Just a thought, considering you are having this problem on all your locks

I have tried all of my keys, even my spare that has been used only once or twice.

Ouch !!!

Ok, my thought of the worn down key is out.

Have you tried Star2004's suggestion of a lock lubricant ? It might require taking the lock cylinder out, and cleaning it, and reinstalling it. If all keys ( old and new ) have the same problme, sounds like something is crapped up in the tumblers.

Like Star2004's suggestion of Graphite might only be a short term solution.

Door wont unlock with key !

Hmmmm

Just bought a 97 F150 4x4, and am having a simular problem. Tried both keys in both doors, no go. Went to Ford, had them cut a key from the code, looked like my original keys, still could not unlock either door. Next stop, a locksmith I guess. Will see what happens.
