How Do I Get The Schefenacker Mirrors To Heat?

Just got my mirrors installed, everything works great except the heat function - because I don't have any heated glass or controls in my '05 F-150.

How do I hook them up? The review said I could "upgrade" them -

Thanks!

Jim

May need to run seperate wire for heat function to work. Need to add a sep momnetary switch with a timed relay so mirror only stay on so long. Or you could just wire it up to toggle switch but dont forget to turn it off. Check out the12volt for wiriing options.

I was hoping to get it done as factory looking as possible.

My '05 XLT SuperCab doesn't have the ATC center with the button for heated glass -- it has the manual AC/Heat controls.

I contacted the vendor and am waiting on their response.

This is their response:

If your vehicle already has heated mirrors all you need to do is plug the mirror
into the vehicle door connector.

If your vehicle does not have heated mirrors, you will need to cut the white
wire at the mirror connector (both passenger and driver sides) and splice into a
power circuit that is activated when the vehicles ignition is turned on.

You will also need to cut the black wire at the mirror connector (both passenger
and driver sides) and connect to a suitable earth/ground. This means that
whenever the vehicles ignition is 'on' so will be the heat on the mirrors.

If you need any additional information feel free to contact us.

I don't think I want to wire them up that way....... fire hazard!

Items 1 and 2 should apply to all F150 2006 models.

1) The speaker grill must be removed before you can proceed to removing the door handle controls.

2) The process for the marker lights wire, as documented in the Ford 2005 copyrighted instructions, cannot work on the 2006 models. The door wire loom connector is not a hollow boot. It is a pin connection and you cannot run any of the wires through it. It looks like you have to drill a hole in the door frame to get a wire into the cab OR find a feed within the door harness that provides power when the lights are on.

Now for the the heating function.

My truck did not come with heated mirrors or the electronics for it. What I did find was the the mirror harness was wired for heat and that is carried back to the main harness. I put a line tap on the DG-VT wire coming
from connector C270J, pin number 1, above the fuse panel. There is no circuity for pin 1 on the PCB. To test out that all of the mirrors would heat, I put a 12V feed into the tap that I added. This confirmed that the mirrors
would heat. I need to add a fuse, relay and some type of lighted switch. Maybe a new control unit that has the rear defroster switch will work? Looking for some feedback on this from fellow members.
