I'm installing 2 sony xvm-h65 headrest monitors and a sony xvm-R75 Drop down monitor in my 01 screw. I have both my ACC and 12V contin wires identified. Each one of the headrest and drop down unit have their own control box and require a ACC and 12V Contin source. Can I just tap all those into the same wire Source? I'm thinking about creating a bridge with connectors so I can just tap each one in? Would this be ok? or Unsafe for that manner?

 

The original circuit has to be able to handle all the FACTORY loads (which is usually all it's built for) plus whatever your new stuff needs. If you overload it, you'll blow the fuse. If you just put in a bigger fuse, you can start a fire &/or damage other circuits & components.

The PROPER way to do is to build a new circuit (WITH fuse protection) to feed your new loads. If it needs to be switched, use a relay triggered by one of the factory switched circuits. But the FIRST thing in any new circuit is a fuse/circuit breaker/fusible link wire.

 

and that protection should be placed as close as possible to where you tap for power. As in inches away.

 

So are you saying tap into another 12 v source put in an inline fuse then run everything off that 12v? then also the ACC needed just use the existing acc to activate deactivte the 12v source as switched?
