OEM fog light install on 99 F150 XLT

Following a bumper bender, requiring replacement I decided to upgrade a little and install fog lamps.

Replaced valence, installed both OEM fogs(plugged in to factory connectors), and replaced dash switch with needed switch.

No good. Cannot seem to locate third harness that is needed.

The one circled in red(if this picture posts )

If not on vehicle would anyone happen to know part number for such. As the dealer says It does not exist.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

P.S.

Both CJB fuse #27 and underhood relay 206 were already factory installed.

Crossing 3 & 5 on the hood relay slot sends power to fogs.

Still would like any help to switch harness problem.

I'd be willing to bet the dealer is right - that harness is probably not available separately.

Wiring is usually installed via a completely wrapped and mechanically insulated harness. That is the only way they can guarantee:

No worn spots from vibration
No noises from vibrating wires
No missed connections

I haven't had a chance to load my Ford Service DVD on my new laptop yet. Once I do, I'll look at the wiring diagram to see what that connector is labeled as.

PS. Welcome to F150 Online !!

Is that your kit in the picture above ?

If you got the Ford assy fog lamp kit for all trucks, this uses a seperate wiring harness, not the stock fog lamp connectors ( the coiled harness in the picture ).

Maybe I infered something from your post, and this is what you are doing.

This is the EVTM for the factory installed lamps :

Here are 2 threads for members that installed the Ford assy fog lamp kit :

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ghlight=fog%2A

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=120597

One points out how the directions in the OEM assy fog lamp kit is a bit wrong when it comes to wiring the fog lamp switch.

Let us know what happens

Good luck

No thats just a picture of a kit.

The problems stems from buying individual items(valance lights switch) without knowing it all came in a kit .

Special thanks to the Ford parts dealer for not mentioning that when I ordered the parts.

After going over the general wire diagram, I'm thinking it could be something as simple as not being grounded out right. Just got to figure which one.

My Bad I should have posted my solution sometime ago.

Without the harness, I just applied K.I.S.S. to the problem.

Couldn't get the preinstalled relay to work right so I simply bypassed it.

Yanked out they relay.

Took about four feet of 12 gauge wire and a fuse link, crimped a male slot on one end and plugged it into number 5 relay slot, fed it through firewall plug, spliced it to a 15 amp fuse link, on the headlamp switch I found the heaviest gauged wire (brown) that went hot when running lights were turned on spliced the fuse link end to that and shazam .

Not only did it work just fine but I my fogs are on headlights on/off high/low and all.

You do know that you are running the full load of your fog lamps on your parking lamp circuit, and the main headlamp switch, right ?
If you have the stock 9140's, thoe are 21 W each for a total of 42 W. This is 3.5 A of additional load on that circuit, and the switch.

If you are running 9145's, these are 42 W each, for a total of 84 W or 7 A.

Just so you know what you did. This is the same as splicing them directly into the parking lamps out in the front of the truck.
This diagram shows splicing to the headlamps, but the same concept is what you did, excluding you used the parking lamp circuit :
