88 f250 electrical issues!!
Alright guys I really need some help here. 88 f250, 5.8 L, auto trans. I have constant power to the starter and it just keeps crankin over until I disconnect the battery. Now I can't even connect the battery without fireworks and cranking. Replaced battery, cables (including new ground and cleaned connections), starter, starter solenoid. Now the weird part. I have constant power to the red trigger wire going to the solenoid without the key being on. The weird thing is if I disconnect the wire that goes from the solenoid to the starter at the solenoid end I have 12 volts from that wire but no power at the starter end. Am I just tired, or crazy? Could it be the new starter? Please help.
No its not the starter, the Red wire (rigger wire) should not have power on it unless the Ignition switch is in the start mode.
You have a bad Ignition Switch or the operating hardware for the switch.

Ok so I was searching the posts and found another one similar. I switched the wires on the solenoid eventhough i hooked the new one up the same way I took it off and the truck cranks but now I have no fuel pump which is the problem I started with a long time ago. I replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump before this and it worked fine until now. Then I went to start it again and it just kept cranking and had to pull the neg. battery terminal....AHHHHH! This truck is going to drive me nuts.
