opening the key fob??

hi

not sure where to post this one, so if I have posted in the wrong part sorry!!:o

I have a Mondeo and I need to replace the battery in the key fob. sounds simple, if only I could get into the fob. On the back of the fob is a small square, which looks like one might push something into to release the back. Tried and failed! any simple advice for how to get the battery out. The ford was first registered in the UK (RH Drive) and is now residing in France with me!!
Also, do I need a special battery, from Ford, or can I buy them anywhere, given that some parts are very expensive from the Ford Main dealer here.

would appreciate any help.

Chris

Cannot find an owners manual for a Mondeo, so I can't say for sure, but take a look in your owners manual.
I know the US F-150's have directions for replacing the battery in the RKE fob in the locks and entry section of the owners manual.
The F-150 uses a CR2032 or equivalent battery, which can be found just about any where here in the US from the national pharmacy chains to a battery plus battery chain store.
If you have a place that sells watch, calculator batteries, and hearing aide batteries, chances are the same store would have the type battery you might need.
Sorry don't know if there is a US pairing for the Mondeo to even look to see what it has in it. The focus seems to use the same type RKE fob as the F-150, but I know reciently, they introduced a fob like the VW and BMW uses, where the key and the RKE fob are one in the same. Don't have any info on this type of RKE fob straight away, to know what the battery looks like, or how to access it.
