Major Electrical Issues

So I thought I just had an airbag issue when I was getting an audible '55' error code. However, the cabin of my truck had a freak out today. I can hear a clicking/shorting type noise down by the fuse box in the drivers feet area. I was driving along and my radio shut off, the only way to get in to come back on is put the truck in park or neutral. The remote locks do not work. The power windows only work somtimes. The overhead consule stays lit up and functioning even with the truck off and the key out. I can operate the fan on the heat/ac with the truck off and the key out. The cluster light does not come on indicating when the parking brake is on. There may be others but this is all I can think of right now. I have to believe this is all related. The only thing that comes to mind is a relay of some sort. I am really hoping that I do not have major electrical issues. All issues are contained to the cabin at this point. Any suggestions would be great as I am clueless on this one.

Thanks,

Jason

I guess I should note, the truck is a 2002 Ford F150 Supercrew with the 5.4L

Sounds like a computer issue, take it to the dealer if it's under warranty.

Have you done any mods recently?
Have you ever added any electrical accessories?

ProjectSho, I think you hit the nail on the head. I am a supplier to Ford inthe electronics industry so I do have some good contacts. I spent some time investigating at work today and found the GEM module to be suspect. I hooked the truck up to the computer and all DTC codes came from GEM. I has rained for 2 weeks here in Michigan and the truck was not parked in the garage. I cleared all DTC codes and ran a test on the GEM as well as all other modules and they all checked out ok. It is 65 degrees and sunny here today. I am thinking it dried out and is working fine now. I will search for the leak. I am actually selling the truck and want to make sure it is taken care of before it goes.

Thanks.

If you are just looking for it, it should be in the lower LH corner of the shield if I recall correctly.

The best way ( not the only ) to fix it, is to pull the windshield, remove all the adhesive around it, and put new adhesive all the way around, and reset the windshield.

The other option, if you want to try DIY, is to pull the trim around the windshield, and the cowl, adn just add in the sealant. Might not be the best way, but for the cost of a single tube, it might do it.

Maybe ask a local windshield repair shop how much to remove and reinstall the same windshield. They cut them out with a paino wire type saw with handles on both ends, so they might be able to clean things well enough, and reseal it ??
