Break light help

everyone

long time no post. I come today with a problem i cant seem to solve.
when i hit my breaks the break light wont come on. i checked the bulbs and fuses and they are fine. i then reached under the dash and messed with the "boo" switch or (break on and off) switch that is attached to the break pedal. when i jiggle that i was able to get the lights to flicker on and off. due to this i decided that the switch went bad and replaced it. well it did not work. still no lights.

any opinions?? is there a fuse i dont know about or something?

my truck info is a 1998 f150 XLT

also tell me if i am wrong but all that switch does is complete a ciruit in the break when i hit the pedal right? so that means if i take a wire and use it to bridge the connedtion in the harness that attaches to the switch the break lights should come on full time right? if so this did not work either.

any info would be great.

A wire has broken inside the insulation near the switch.

Usually occurs within the first 3 or 4 inches.
