Electrical Short or Error Message???

I have recently encountered a problem with my truck that I am hoping some of the experts here can help me out with. First, I have 2002 F150 Supercrew with the 5.4L. I was driving this weekend when I noticed the vehicle chime going off. The chime is similiar to the sound when you leave the door ajar. I am not experiencing fault lights on the dashboard. Anyway, I experience a series of five short chimes, then a pause. This sequence repeats four more times for a total of five sets of five chimes each. I have no idea what this means. Also, I noticed a clicking type sound in the area of the steering column which sounded like something was shorting out and turning on and off numerous times. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

J.

The 55 audible code is coming from the airbag module. It means that there is an airbag system fault, but the module cannot turn on the fault lamp in the instrument cluster, often because it is burned out or was removed.

Once the bulb is repaired, the bulb will flash a two digit code that corresponds to the current system fault.

The noise in the column might be related (or not), but it is too early to tell.

Get the bulb fixed first, then with the fault code, the diagnosis can be continued.

How hard is it to change the bulb for the dash airbag light? Also, if I hook the truck up to the computer, will it tell me what is wrong with the airbag system? It always seems this stuff happens right after warranty is over.

Thanks
