chaning out lock cylinder????

chaning out lock cylinder????

hey whats up everyone my dads 96 f150 has a bit of a prob..he went to turn the key and take it out and he said it didnt click and the truck stayed running.im looking online for pics and have found no luck on changing the lock cylinder i am mechaniclly inclined i just have never done one..i was wondering if anyone can show me some pics or some advice at least..thanks guys

It is not 1996 specific, but might help

I don't know if the 1996 are the same as the 97+, but here are a few posts on the topic ( seach for Ignition Switch Replacement or Ignition Switch ).

Look down the thread for JMC's post on removal. I know it worked great on my old 2001 SCrew, when I did it for dad 2 months ago ( he does not take keys out of the ign..still )

Good luck, let us know if it is the same for the '96s as well.

Don't give up too quickly, I had to play with it a bit, but it did work.
