Question on security system

Anyone know how effective the f150 stock antitheft feature is? I mean if someone were to break into my truck can they start it without the key? Does the computer not operate or what? I've seen somewhere that you can hook up some sort of OBDII adapter and trick the system even if you don't have the key. Anyone heard of that? And when I say key, i mean the chip inside.

Can't start the truck without a chip being programmed.

The only way someone is going to "trick" the system into starting without a programmed key is to :

1. Cut a new set ( at least 2 ) keys for the truck, or bring an entire new ign cylinder with 2 PATS keys cut for it.

2. Plug in a NGS Transponder programmer, about USD$ 2,500.00 MSRP ( don't know if just anyone can prder these ).
http://www.hickok-inc.com/ngs/ngslock.html

3. Clear all the key currently programmed into the system, and follow the manual to add in 2 new keys ( must be 2 keys added after a delete all ):
- SECTION 419-01: Anti-Theft — PATS -> Key Programming —Erase All Key Codes and Program Two Keys.
The HEC is waiting after an erase, :
1. The first key is in and turned to the RUN positon ( not start ) for 3 seconds, turn off, remove.
2. The second key is in and turned to the RUN positon ( not start ) for 3 seconds, turn off, remove.

If one or no PATS keys are programmed in, the HEC will set the ENABLE_S parameter to DISABLE. = CRANK NO START.

In other words, If someone wanted your truck this bad, they would load it onto a flat bed, and haul it away, and work on it later.

Do you have the URL to :
I've seen somewhere that you can hook up some sort of OBDII adapter and trick the system even if you don't have the key
This is the second time I have seen a statement to this point ( the other was get a tune to delete PATS ), and I would like to see where this is coming from. It is obviously someone that does not know any thing about a Ford.
