Does anyone know....
Does anyone know....
About the turn signal located on the edge of my mirror.
I have a 2001' Supercrew F150 Lariat and that little red lense on the edge of my mirror works on the drivers side, but doesnt blink on my passengers side.
I've been to O'Reillys, Autozone, and Advance Auto parts and they've tried looking it up on their computer under turn signals, but nothing comes up for a mirror. One of the guys even said that it might be a fuse blown, but others said that it is a bulb.
I looked around the mirror to see about changing it but nothing really looks like it can be taken apart. If anyone can help, It would be much appreciated. Or if anyone knows the part # to where I can just go buy it and change it myself. ???

Owners manual on page 188 shows the signal mirror bulb as a 906/921 bulb.
They say to take it to the dealer to have it replaced, but several here have done it, as long as you are careful, you will not break the clips that hold the glamor cap on.
If you do a search on glamor cap you will find several posts on how to take the cap off, to get to the signal.
Here is the way I changed out my glamor caps with the mirror still on the truck :

I think the correct procedure in the service manual is to take the mirror off the truck, and remove the glass to get at the clips. This is a known good wya to see the clips, and be more careful with them, then the on the truck method quite a few have done. To get the mirror head off go to Muth's web site and pull down the directions http://www.muthco.com/
Larry did a change out on the glamor caps on his truck, you might find some of this handy.

That is about al I can recall, but there might be other threads on the topic if you search.
Good Luck

Thanks a lot man,
I actually did look and see one of those clips and wondered how to get to it, but it makes sense now. I have a thin screwdriver so I'll try that and try even harder not to break one.
Once again, thanks for the help!!!

Glad it helped.
Just be real careful, with the on the truck method, it is not hard to break one.
I broke one taking off my chrome glamor caps, but it did not matter that much, as I was putting on painted ones.
The method to get the clips off is to get the screw driver under the female clip, and turn the handle of the screw driver to get the room, to clear the male tab.
I think they were clips that looked like this :

You can see how you have to get the screw driver under the female tab, and turn the screw driver. Check if it requires a clock wise or anti-clock wise turn. Also don't do this when it is under somewhere around 60* F. The warmer the plastic, the more it will flex. I did mine in JUN/JUL I think ?
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
