Power Door Locks

A really wierd problem with the power locks on my 2001 F150. The passenger power door lock will not fully unlock when using the power lock switches. Neither the driver's side or the passenger side switch will unlock the door. The keyless remote entry will not unlock the passenger door either. The ONLY ways to unlock the door are to use the key from the outside or to pull the door handle on the inside. This is really inconvienent especially in the rain trying to load four kids in the rain!

I know that one press to unlock the driver's side and two to unlock both doors with the keyless remote, but the passeger's side won't unlock. The mechanism actuates, you can see the 'button' move, but it won't come up high enough.

By the way, I noticed that sometimes I have to press the key several times to unlock the driver's side door too.

Power Window Locks Nevermind

I thought I had searched high and low, then discovered the very thorough post regarding the door actuators. Looks like a shade-tree mechanic Saturday project to me!

Very, very, very common problem with 97-2003 F150s and also superduties and excursions. Soooo common that it is the first thing I check before installing an alarm, keyless, or remote starter. I open the door and hit lock and unlock about 5 times. Usually then it will show you that the locks are really sluggish. I make the customer aware of the issue before installing my units.

Its the actuators

I had this problem and finally fixed it yesterday. If you take it to a dealer they'll charge you around $300. If you feel manly enough and want to save some money, do it yourself.

I dug around around and found this thread https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...=door+actuator

Buy the actuators off ebay for around $70 total and find some time after work to get it done. The driver side took me over an hour, but the passeneger side took me less than 30 mins.
