Battery and Starting troubles...
1999 F150 Smaller V8 engine.
The other morning my truck would not start, so I checked the battery connections and the positive cable terminal had corroded off completely. Lucky for me this failure showed itself while parked and not driving! Anyway, I installed a new terminal on the end of the positive cable. I also cleaned both terminals and put a coating of "battery terminal protector" on everything. I went to start it, all the lights on the dashboard turn on, all the gauges surge, and the starter turns over very fast. The engine does not turn over though. Just a loud clicking noize from the starter. If I leave the key in the on position the gauges go back to normal, but the service engine soon light shows. I had no problems like this before the battery terminal finally lost connection. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
Todd.
