I had the same problem and that fixed it. Its been working good ever since I did it probably 2 years ago.

I have seen the link before that you are redirecting him to but I am wondering what he means by " Resolder this pin with a low wattage soldering iron." What is a low wattage solder iron. I have a welder brand pen type and a gun one will theses work
hey thanks for the link. i thought i was the only person with the problem hence why i didnt do a search even though i search for anything that i need help with on my truck. i just got it yesterday with 131000 miles and it drives beautifully no rattles and id swear its a brand new truck. i think this chevy man has turned into a ford man
but im still holding my breath as to see if anything goes wrong with it.. it was a gift so im "stuck" with it. as long as nothing goes majorly wrong with it (motor, or transmission) then ford has me sold. thanks again

My odometer just started going on and off, but before this started, my trip odometer kept resetting every time I started my truck, but that's not all. My tach. and speedo would peg to the top for a couple seconds, drop back down to 0 for a couple seconds, then the tach would go to where it should be. I'm going to try that link, and hope it will fix all these problems at once. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My old 2000 did the same thing it started doing it shortly after it hit 50k miles way back in early summer of 02 by the time I got rid of it in November of 05 it stayed off more than it did on. But funny thing is on the day I traded it in for my current truck it was staying on not showing problems so they could get the exact mileage on it instead of having to gues what it had.
Fixed the odometer, but not the tach.
Well, the fix on the cracked pin was easy enough, but it didn't fix the problem I am having with the tach. and Speedo. I looked the circuit board over very carefully, thinkin there might be something else cracked, no luck. At least now I can use my odo to see the crappy gas mileage I'm getting.
That sure is a sharp lookin truck ya got. I love the big speaker box in the back, but I'm not quite ready to take out my back seat. Right now I have 2 10"s in sepparate boxes, but they're not really under the seat. The only thing I would add to your truck is some nerf bars, mine came with them, and I love em.
