No Tail lights

The tail and licence plate lights on my 2000 f150 just stopped working. I have checked the bulbs and fuses several times, and I can't find anything wrong. The front parking lights and the brake/signal lights all work fine. Does anybody have any idea's?

Thanks,

Martin

Due to my own stupidity; I'm not certain which light's you're referring to.

I can tell you that i had a similar problem with my reverse light... The Cause was that the electrical wire that connects to my manual transmission became got severed on the 4x4 trail and I just needed to splice it back together.

Either way I suggest following all wiring back to the fuse box checking for any bad connections or breaks.

All the lights in the back share a common ground.

One way to test this, is turn on the parking lamps, and test across the socket ( pick the easy one, like the license plate ) with a meter, to see if you have power ( should not, due to your problem ).
Take one of the pins as pos, and the other end of the meter to a ground on the truck ( make sure it is scrapped clean of paint / dirt / salt, etc ), to see if you get a reading. If you have the Factory Tow package, I would not use the ground pin in there, as that is also part of the same ground point in the system.
I think the ground wire in the back is actually black for those circuits, so use the color / color with a stripe wire on the plate lamp.

If you have a reading on the meter, using the pos and a different ground, it will be time to dig through the loom to find the ground wire ( I want to say it is towards the pass side, but don't quote me on that right now ), to see if the ring or wire is broken.

Check the socket to a different ground point first. Well I should say, I assume you checked all the fuses.

This is a thread on a similar topic ( more so half of the lamps don't work ). Has some circuit color code info from the '01 EVTM.

The license plate lamps, rear running lamps, and the rear turn signals all share the same ground - G104. Since the turn signals work, the ground is good and is not the problem.

Without the EVTM, the following components will be hard to locate.

Take-off for the rear lamps is at S115

Goes to C150 then C411 then C403 then S403 where it splits to each individual lamp socket.

C150 is under the hood, roughly under the fusebox. S115 is right near it.

C411 is under the left rear corner of the bed, near the bumper.

C403 is near C411 but closer to the bumper.

S403 near C403.

I'd focus on the two connectors in the rear. Disconnect the connectors and inspect the pins for moisture, corrosion, or pushed/damaged pins.
