Weird battery light issue

98' v6
My battery recently died, so I bought a new battery. Now the battery light wont go off, but with my old battery that was not an issue.

I ran the truck with the AC on and lights on, as well with revving the engine. Voltage checks out ok. Is there any way I can fix this issue?

Discribe what "voltage checks ok" means.
I'm in doubt.

The battery light is controlled by the alternator. What voltage did you have at idle with lights and blowers on? Should be above 13.5 Volts.

Possible causes for battery light on are:
1) Corrosion in single pin connector to alternator. This wire sends stator voltage back to regulator. If alternator regulator doesn't see stator voltage, then it turns the light on.
2) Alternator failure: worn brushes, inop stator phase
3) Wiring short to ground on lamp circuit. ie. Wiring insulation rubbed through and is now touching ground.

Most likely the alternator going out.
Does the Alternator only come on at higher RPS's? If so, it's on the way out.

The charge lamp is powered thru the igniton switch, a 10amp fuse right to the regulator in the Alternator.
If it come on at 2500 or whatever, it's circuit is in tact and working.
You have an alternator problem. It's regulator most likley has the fault or the brushes are the problem.
All there is is the battery and alternator. not much else to find fault with especially if the battery is being charged and continues to start and run the truck.
When the alternator was replaced, a complete check out would have shown the problem then.
Both of you have to bite the bullet and accept the fact that even though you replaced parts, one of them is defective. It's not the first time it has ever happened.

My light would come on for 5 min every couple of months. I would stop take out my meter and measure about 14V. After a little bit it would go out. After 2 years alt died. Never happened again after alt change......
