right blinker rear and front???

The rear turn signal is acting up on me. When I turn them to the right the light does not work and I hear repetative clicking. This happens like 50% of the time. Front and rear don't work. The other 50% they both work fine. Left turn signal works fine all the time. Any ideas?

Replaced bulb and fuse is OK.?.....

Help.

Derrick

Exactly the same problem happens to my 2005 screw. The right turn signal works fine, but randomly starts flashing fast, and the rear light bulb does not blink. It is not the bulb terminal, I already check this. Fuse is OK. I have a theory though. This is not the only intermitent problem in my screw. Also the radio shuts off randomly. I moved the connectors/cables up and down near the fuse box and the problem seems to disapear. I can recreate the problem by turning the air conditioner down to 60 and through the lower vent. After a while, the radio and signal lights start to fail intermitently. Seems that there is a bad connector in this area. I know, the temperature test is weird, but believe me, the right signal light and radio fails whenever I do this. Any electrician reading this?

Also, I have read this and other ford forums, this seems to be a very common problem. Is there a TSB on this issue?

As for 1997, it does sound like the MFS.

Here is a thread with the MFS taken out of Taurus Ford, that shows how it looks.

This was specific to the windshield wiper / washer problems at the end, but there are numerous threads with the same grease they use in the turn signal getting dirty and acting up. either pull it and clean it out, or for about 250.00 ( I think that was the cost.. it would need to be confirmed ) you can get a new one online.

Thre grease Ford uses ( used to use ) seems to hold every piece of dirt, and after a few years, it is enough to act like an insulator.

For the other threads try a search on MFS* ( 4 character min ) or Multi-Function Switch or Multi Function Switch.

This is a common problem with fords. I had a 2001 supercrew that did it. Try tilting your steering wheel to different positions and have someone stand out side and tell you when it works. The dealer replaced my turn signal switch 2 times before they figured out what the problem was. It had to do with the connection either to the switch, like a pin wasn't making contact in the plug to the switch, or where the steering wheel harness plugs to the truck harness. Either way it should not be to hard to pinpoint. Just have someone outside watching the lights when you wiggle and push on the connections so you will know which one it is. As far as a fix, just bend the pins a little so that they will make better contact. If you decide to use a test light, disconnect the batterie and un plug the air bag. You could set it off if you are not careful.
