Low Range Light / Wiper Delay?

Hello
Can anyone help me with this one, I have a 98 - F150, 4X4 -4.6 Litre Extended Cab, My wiper delay stopped working , but when I pull the transfer case into 4 High the low range light on the dash comes on and the wiper delay works again. any ideas as to what this is, a relay or fuse or maybe a bad ground somewhere. I have had no other problems.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ken,
I have the same truck and had the same exact problem. A Ford Tech told me what it was. There is a plug in your tranny called a 4x4 indicater switch. When it goes bad, those are the symptoms. I replaced mine twice(first was defective), and haven't had the problem since.
I think it's a 7/8" wrench to take it out and replace. there is an electrical terminal that you need to pull off the end of the plug before removing.

Cheers Sean

P.S. There is a slight possibility that it could be your GEM module (so I'm told), but the Ford tech told me I should try this first since the part was around $20 and a GEM is like $400 plus install.

I regret to inform you that it's probably the GEM module since the wiper system is improperly interacting with the 4 X 4 system. The GEM module is the only place their circuits are in the same area.

Hope your windshield isn't leaking.
