'97 ABS light

I have a 1997 4WD standard cab XLT. The ABS light has come on and does not go out. What are the possible causes and their remedies? Most grateful for any/all advice. Dan

This happened to me too once. I put my truck in neutral and shut it off and started it back up. This cleared it and it hasnt come back on since

Dan,

Welcome aboard!

Read this thread: ABS Light in it's entirety.

Assuming you have RABS, it will get you well on your way. If you have 4WABS, you'll need to go to a shop with an ABS-Capable scanner to have codes pulled if you so desire.

If you get anything other than a "9" code as described, let us know and we'll look it up. The "9" is, by far, the most common problem (rear diff sensor) but not the only one.

Check your brake fluid... I've seen this about 3 dozen times on other vehicles...
