Headlight fuse keeps blowing
Headlight fuse keeps blowing
I have a 95 bronco with the 351 but I think the electrical system is the same. Anyway, I hit a bump the the way home last night and lost my headlights, parking lamps, instrument lights, and tail lights. Pulled over and the #4 15a fuse in the interior fuse box was blown(Exterior and instrument lights). Tried to replace it but when I went to turn the lights on, the parking lamps lit, tail lamps, and instrument lights all worked untill I pulled the headlight switch all the way out for the headlights. The highbeams work too. Then the fuse would blow again. Later found out that the #19 or R 40amp fuse in the outside fuse box was blown too (main headlight fuse). If I try to replace the 40a fuse, it will just blow again. I can't find and short in any visable wire. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? If it is a short, where do you think the short might be occuring? and if the main headlight fuse is blown, why does the interior 15a fuse blow when I try to turn the headlights on if there is no power going to the headlight? Sorry for the long post but I wanted to be very detailed. Thanks for your help guys!
i suggest you need to see a professional mechanic who knows what to do with your headlights. those mechanic are the ones who really knows bout the wiring of your auto headlights , this is to ensure a proper installation too so it wont blow up again the next time.
