Aftermarket Tachometer

I want to add a tachometer to my 1993 5.8L E150. I am thinking of adding it at the base of the A pillar.
Any advice on types to use?
I would think the signal is under the dash nut my after market manual does not show a tach wire. Where should I connect?

Thanks
Bill

You get what you pay for. Remember that. For the money, I like Autometer Sport Comps, but I'm an old street racer. Either way, your tach will have 4 wires, a black one that goes to ground, a red one that goes to a 12 volt source that's hot when the ignition is on, a white wire that you splice into an existing dash lamp wire, and a green wire that you run to the negative post on the coil. That's all there is to wiring a tach.
