block heater

I have a 1999 F150 Xlt 4x4.Should I be able to hear the block heater when it is plugged in.Some block heaters sound like a kettle.

There is a recent thread on this.
Ohm meter function on low ohms will tell you if the heater is open or the power cord/plug/connector is bad.
Don't try to test with power applied.
