Intermitent Odometer - already searched.. a new question
I am having the intermitent odometer problem. My question is now i am hearing a buzzing electrical sound, as if the short is arcing behind the dash. has this been known to cause any kind of fires or serious electrical damage?
I have read the posted fix, soldering the shorted connection. However i am not that confident in my skills. Rip apart an exhaust system, replace a universal... no problem. Tearing apart the dash, i'm afraid i'll break something else.
any suggestions? Ford Quoted me something like $400 to fix the problem.

buy a Haynes manual and it will tell you how to remove the cluster. if you can do this but still cant solder the bad joint then take the cluster to an electronic repair place to get it fixed. if you don't want to try any part of fixing it then find a local mechanic to do it. you can even show them the repair thread.
Maybe someone here can help you out with it.

Coming from an ex-car stereo installer of 6 years, any reputable audio shop could handle that for you no problem if you were not comfortable with digging in the dash. It's very simple to get into the dash to access the cluster though.
