Installing Viper Alarm on 1998 F-150

I have a buddy at best buy who got me the viper 791XV real cheap. This alarm has remote start and all that jazz.

How hard would this be to install myself on a 98 xlt F-150. Would I have to yank the factory alarm out?

Can you disassemble the area under the steering column, can you find a grommet on the firewall, can you solder? If you can answer yes to all of these questions and have never done an alarm before, it'll probably take you 6-8 hours. I used to do this thing professionally, and it took anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours depending on the extra features.

-and NO, you don't have to remove the factory alarm.

I have a question, i see how everyone always says ya i need one so the car can heat up when its cold or so the car can cool off when its hot, but how do u make it hot or cold from a remote? like is there a button that is hot and a button that is cold? also does the Viper 791xv tell you when your alarm is going off, like if someone is breaking into your car does the thing vibrate to tell you or something like that?
