Keyless remote ???'s

I bought a used 2000 f150 supercab. It did not come with a key fob. Is there a way to check to see if it has keyless remote on it?

I had the same problem. After reading some posts here you need to cycle your ignition from off to start, not run(8 times). If you have the keyless entry option it will actuate your power locks. You can get more detailed directions from other posts. Just do a search for keyless entry or key fob.

Unfortunately I did not have the option. I asked the dealer and they want $289 for it.

I can obviously find cheaper, but I have heard people talking about aftermarket keyless entry and their lights not going off, etc.

One of the big things I want to have is the auto locking feature when you start to drive. Does anyone know if aftermarket keyless entries do this?

I need to find an aftermarket that let's me program the settings I want. Like how long the lights stay on, does it confirm beep or blink the lights, etc.

I don't need an alarm or remote start. Any suggestions from anyone? Would anyone know if it is easy to add the keyless module?

I tried the 8 time on and off thing, and the locks didn't budge. I guess I need to look into an aftermarket kit.

You can get an aftermarket keyless for next to nothing nowadays. I have an account with audiovox and just installed one of their kits on a 91 cadillac. Took about an hour to just hook up the keyless part, but it has lots of other optional connections as well. I didn't hook up the interior lights or park light flash or horn beep or any of that crap though. I did put on the trunk pop option. Its handy to have a couple of 5 pin relays around, and you'll most likely need at least one for the Ford install if its a positive lock system

Another way to check is this: Look at your left foot while sitting in the driver's seat. Then, place your head where your left foot was and look up the firewall. If you have the RAP module bolted to the firewall, you've got it. It'll be a gray or white box about 6x4x1.5 with a white sticker on the front. If you have the module, you have the remote entry option.

The RAP module? Would it be hard to install one of those? Is it a plug and play kind of thing like the DRL's? Would I still need the dealer to program it?
