Fixing a horn
Fixing a horn
Ok, so my horn on my 2000 4.2L F150 is not working.
I checked the horn to with a 12V meter and it is getting power but when I press on the wheel is doesnt work.
I suppose its some sort of spring that I hear about thats in the wheel.
So my question is....is it an easy fix?
I expect I will have to blow up my air bag huh?
Is it better to take it down to the dealer? Does anyone know how much or if its covered under warranty?
I would think messing with the airbag to change a spring is pretty dangerous....any advise would be nice.
Thanks

Before you start ripping the wheel apart, I think the horn circuit is hot all the time, and then the relay completes the ground. Check relay first...then try hotwiring the horn by completing the ground with a jumper (you've already determined the hot side is working). It's a start.
