Dome Light Override

I searched in this section of the forum and was only able to turn up 2 results; neither of them being helpful.

Basically, I want to disable the dome lights coming on when any door is opened. I do not have a switch, as I believe many of the new GMs and Chevy's do.

Is this possible?

I have a 1998 Navigator.

Any help is much appreciated.

that'd work perfect, cept sometimes I need the lights that are in the front, as do rear passengers, ie, for reading maps, books on long drives, ect..

hmm

I might just do that though . .

PHATNAV - here is the mod that I did that will eliminate the dome light whenever you open the driver's door, but is easily changed back by a flip of the switch:

I am a police officer in Ohio & out dept disables all of the dome lights in the crown vics when the doors open in the cruisers for officer safety. I think that they just put a dab of superglue on the door pin that engages when you open & close the door, making the car think that the door is always closed. This way you could stil manually turn it on when you need it.
I know this is how they used to do it but now days I am pretty sure the police interceptor package comes this way.
It may be worth a try.

Good luck,

Brian
