Talking Headlight flash when locking doors is gone (on purpose)!!!

I know it has been asked here before and not sure if anyone found a fix, but I realized this morning that a mod that I had done months ago also eliminates the flashing headlights when you lock your doors. Previously I had posted about installing a switch that can be used to eliminate the dinging sound when you have the driver's door open and your key in the ACC position, say to listen to the radio while detailing the truck.

(Switch in door pocket)

(Wire in driver's door that was cut)

When this switch is activated, it does keep the headlights from flashing when you lock the door. The only disadvantage is that when this switch is activated, your interior lights will not work.

Just thought I would pass the info along if anyone was interested.

That's awesome.

I would love to install a switch to eliminate the dinger. Could you explain how you did this, or point me to the thread on how to.

Thanks.

You said that the interior lights don't work when the switch is activated, do you know if the rear bed lights still work?

David - yes this mod does also turn off the bed light, but this only occurs when the key is in the ACC position. When the key is out of the ignition, all interior lights (and the bed light) all work as stock.

Great Mod!

Don't forget about the advantages to the hunter. This is perfect! I've been tired of showing up at my happy hunting grounds only to turn on what seems like a Wal-Mart parking light on the back of my 'Screw.. not to mention the loudspeaker "ding" announcing my presence whilst I collect my gear!

I can't wait to try it!

Lightbulb sorry im new here

not used to forums.
dont know if you guys already clipped that wire but if you have a 97-03 with keyless entry:
1. look under drivers side dash toward the parking brake ratchet mechanism.
2. you will see a metal box with wires on it and a sticker that says keyless entry.
3. look for a GREEN/YELLOW wire.
4. clip and separate that wire.

No more headlight/taillight flash, however you keep the cargo light and interior lights when you unlock.

you can find the diagram that shows this on your haynes manual under the exterior lighting diagram.
I installed my HID's directly after i did this and everything works great.
