Gem Replacement Help

I am trying to replace / clean the GEM on a 1997 f-50 X-CAB 4.6L. Where is it located, what does it look like, how much is one, where do I buy one, am I going to mess up anything by doing it myself, is there manual that will help? Part number?

The GEM is bolted onto the back of the Central Junction Box, the fuse box inside the truck. You'll need to remove the fuse box to access the GEM. I forget current going prices on them; check with your friendly neighborhood Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer. The swapping itself is just plug and play, no programming or anything special required. Just disconnect the battery before starting just in case.
