Keep blowing fuse!!

I'm an owner of a 1997 F150 5.4L. I'm wondering has anyone ever had a problem with blowing a fuse in the number 29 position which operates the Autolamp, instrument cluster, transmission control indicator lamp and switch. This may happen once a week or once a day and it only happens when I switch into gear. Does anyone have any help. Thanks

Had to bring it in tried doing it myself but couldn't find nothing. It ended up being a short in my shift column, $50 part, $250 labor (they pulled my eyes out).

the steering column is a common place where the harness rubs and shorts. Do you adjust the column often?

I had the same problem, blowing #29 when the autolamp turned the headlights on. The switch fell apart when they took it out and they replaced it. Worked OK for about a month. Started blowing the fuse again, I suggested they look at the wiring from the dash sensor to the switch. Found a short there. Ford apparently has a TSB out and it might eventually be a recall. Hope so, the switch was about $150.
