How do I fool the PATS key system?

Hi all

Ok So I now have a couple $2 keys that open doors and will turn the ignition over but of course will not start the truck. I read in a previous thread about zip tieing the factory key with chip under the steering column near the sensor. Sounds like a great way to avoid paying $70 for a new key but I cannot find a place to hide the factory key and fool the safety lockout feature except in the ignition itself. I shouild add that I played with the keys and placement for an hour and did not even come close to finding a spot that would fool the system with a non PATS key.

Question: any body been successfull with this method? I know it will disable the pats system but so what .

Any help appreciated

Hi Guys

Nobody out there been successful with foiling this PATS anti theft system?

It is really good of ford to save us from our selves. I have owned plenty of cars and none stolen yet. In fact on my 1961 classic all you need is a jumper wire to cross the key contacts and off you go. Oh well I live in hope somebody has aced this (little money grab by Ford) problem.

If you look at the top of the PATS key, you will see a small cover. Open it up and remove the RFID chip. Then you can tape it wherever you need it in the ignition or even superglue it next to the keyhole.
