Headlight Malfunction. Lights going Dim

'03 STX

Anybody ever had problems with their headlights going dim? Last week it was the passenger side...Tonight its the drivers side. Don't have anything extra wired to them. I can ever so slightly move the plug and it comes on bright. I was going to buy another headlight socket for the passenger side. Then my drivers side started doing it. Any ideas

Generally speaking, a dim headlight is caused by either a bad hot connection or a bad ground. If you can wiggle your connector and get it to light up, it sounds like a bad connection there. The first thing I'd try is cleaning the connections, applying dielectric grease, then reassembling. If you caught the problem in time, you're all set. If you really arced the connection and burned off the plating, you'll (eventually) have to replace the connector. I'd also clean and grease the ground connection on each side (behind the headlight) too.
