I have a '98 F-150 4.6 and for the last couple of weeks the cruise has been acting strange. Sometimes I can set it with no problem but a few miles down the road it will just kick off. Then I can't reset it without turning it back on. Other times it won't let me activate it at all. After I pump the brakes a couple of times it seems to work but still drops out later on down the road. I've replaced the master cylinder switch and right now I have it jumped out so I'm fairly certain this is not my problem. Any suggestions?

 

I don't know if your truck falls under the recall senerio or not, but that maybe your problem. If not, sorry no help here.

His is not one of the currently recalled ones, but that's a likely indication of a failing brake pressure switch, the same one that is in the currently recalled vehicles. I'd suggest disconnecting it, picking up the replacement switch, and doing an install ASAP. -Joe
