12V Accessory Power in Center Console
12V Accessory Power in Center Console
I got tired of having accessory cords hanging in plain sight. I added a 12V accessory port inside the center console as shown. I now tuck my phone, iPod, palm, etc. out of sight when charging off the battery.
Step 1
Remove radio bezel (1) and console cover(2). I drilled a 1 1/8" hole and installed a female accessory socket I purchased from a local electronic supply company (3). The location of the plug is limited by the cup holders in the console cover - double check before drilling!

Step 2
Drill a hole as shown to pass the wires into the dash cavity.

Step 3
Drill another small hole to tie cables as shown in (1). I tied the in-line fuse and wiring to an exsiting harness (2). It's a reflection (3).

Step 4
Splice wires into existing cigar lighter behind radio bezel. I chose to splice into the existing ground wire versus finding another ground point.
