98' starter corosion on terminals

After doing a lot of searches, it seems as though 98's seem to be the most common to have this problem. The only thing that protects the starter terminals is a little red cap. Did they ever come out w/ something better in later model years or is it just a matter of time before they all have this problem? I've cleaned mine twice in 73k and the second time the terminal was almost corroded in half!!

smear a little vaseline or WD40 on the terminals. protects the moisture from getting to them.
