Putting lights in trailer
Putting lights in trailer
I have an old truck box made into a trailer and I need to wire the basic lights into it (turn signals and brake lights). Now I already have some extra tail lights sitting around at home so I will put those in and I am just looking for a little help on how to wire these lights in. I don't really know much about wiring so any help is appreciated. My truck has a flat 4-pin connector too.
One thing I was wondering was about signal lights. Can you just run wire to your lights from the truck or do you need thermal flashers installed in the trailer?
Thanks.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a trailer light wiring harness (the one with the green, yellow, brown and white wires) from an auto parts store (Wal-Mart may have them too). Then it's just a matter of using the enclosed instructions and figuring out which wires on the lights you have control what in regards to turn signals, running lights, etc.
If I were going to do it, I would run a 7-wire harness so I could use the reverse lights in the trailer too. Granted, some of the wires would not be used (like to one for the electric trailer brakes).
