Power mirrors with no power

1999 F-150 XLT Ext. Cab, has power mirrors with no power. Any ideas? I think it might be a switch or a fuse.

Try checking the fuse for the power mirrors as listed in the owner's manual for your vehicle. If you don't have one, you can download a .pdf version from www.fleet.ford.com under the heading of maintenance.

Don't have a 98 or 99 EVTM, but for a 97 and a 00 both its F4 in the underdash fusebox (5A).

If the fuse checks as good, you will need to pop out the switch panel and make some voltage checks on the switch to see what the fault might be.

Got the same problem on my 2003 F150 Harley although it is an intermittant problem. Fairly certain it is a faulty switch. I'm getting a new switch but don't yet know how to change it.

My brother just fixed the same problem with his 00' f-150. he sprayed contact cleaner in the switch using the straw it comes with, be careful not to get any on the upholstery or the vinyl. That instanly fixed his.

If you spray Armor All in the area of the mirror switch it will seep down into the switch and cause it not to function. ,The silicone in the Armor All acts like an insulator, it will also ruin the guage bezel if the overspray is left on it and not wiped off right away, found out the hard way. These switces are easy to take apart and clean up with contact cleaner.

You need to pull upwards on the panel that holds the mirror, window and door lock switches. There is a tab at the rear of the panel but the front is a push clip. Pulling up at the front of the panel releases the clip and you can then pull it forward anf the panel slides out. The switch itself is held in with clips. unplug the switches and turn the panel upside down andlook at the clips and release them and push the switch out.

Many thanks for the advice, I will try that this weekend and hopefully get it sorted. Being new to F150s and there only being a few vehicles in the UK, the help from this site is great.

I also hade a faulty switch.
After taking the switch apart and cleaning it with spray it worked fine.
