Power window stuck
Power window stuck
My wife informed me today that the driver's side window on our '00 Expedition is no longer working.
I know that the last 9 months or so it was slowing down quite a bit compared to the other windows, but it packed it in completely today.
When I get home tonight, I'll do the dome-light trick that I read about on this board to see if there is a power draw from the motor when I press the switch.
So, what's a new motor worth to get put in?

Power window fix
Had a similar problem with a 95 ford explorer. Dome light flicker indicated that the switch and motor were getting power, but the motor was stuck. Try this trick. Open the door, Take a rubber mallet, activate the motor switch simulateously as you wack on the bottom of the door. Don't be shy about giving it a few good taps. Mine freed right up, and has worked (fingers crossed-keep going!) for 5 years. I try not to auto-lower the window all the way to the bottom of the frame (seems to contribute to sticking when it runs all the way down and slams into the frame). Have used this trick on other cars too. Good luck
There is a high probability that your window motor is shot. I had a similar problem with another vehicle, the hardest part on your truck is getting the moulding off the door. The rest is pretty easy, all you need is a little patience. Get your yellow book and call nearby auto parts store for a quote on your window lift motor.
