Wiring help needed on a 97 4.6L
Wiring help needed on a 97 4.6L
I just got a sweet autometer air/fuel ratio gauge for my 97 f 150 4.6L but i cannot locate the right wire (witch i beleive is the O2 sensor wire) to connect the the purple air/ fuel wire to. It would be a great help if i could get ahold of a wiring diagram or if someone with a similar gauge could help me out. all i need to know is what color the wire is thanks.

The common for these sensors is a GRY/RED.
One side is RED/WHT, the other side is YEL/LT-BLU.
My opinion is you don't really have a need for this gauge unless you have a blower, then it will only show the A/F is going rich but you can't tell by how much. It will also show you how the fuel is cut during deceleration.
It can have other value by showing how fast the engine goes closed loop after starting, from cold, and on a relitive basis, how sensitive the sensor is over time.
I would think you are better served with an oil pressure gauge and a trans temp gauge if you do any hot weather towing.
Remember, the PCM will tell you by code if there are any faults in the fuel system that affect the A/F ratio.
I say this because I have a blower on my car with a vacuum/boost pressure gauge and an A/F meter.
In the truck, I have the O.P and Trans temp gauges.
The truck gauges have already provided some interesting information about the effects of temp on oil pressure and trans temp as load and temp conditions change. 5w20 MC oil is very sensitive to small temp changes.
I know this is more than you ask but thought you might like some other related points of view.
Good luck.

hey thanks for the info i already have a fuel pressure and trans temp gauge in my truk as well as a vacum boost gauge the air fuel is the last of the series thanks ill try those wires tonight. ill let you know how it went when im done.
