Instrument Voltage Stabilizer

I have a 1990 Ford Ranger, and the fuel and temp guage went out at the same time. I can't find a loose wire or plug. I found on the internet that the "instrument voltage stabilizer" could be shot. It supplies power to both guages. Does anyone know where it is locaged on my truck? Is that the proper name for it?

It's actually a voltage regulator, the guages run on 5 volts, you may also see it called an anti-slosh module as it stops the fuel guage from reacting to sloshing in the gas tank. I believe on a 1990, you will have to remove the instrument panel lens, and the black trim piece, and you will find a small removable circuit board on the lower right hand side. Both guages rely on the same power supply, but different grounds, so the anti-slosh module is a good shot in the dark. You may also find that both guages are part of the same assembly, so it's possible that failed also. You should check the back of the IP with a multimeter to see if you have 5 volts at the guage.
