putting turn signal mirrors on 01 screw

Has anyone ever put the turn signal mirrors on a 01 super crew?
If so how hard is it to convert?

I did it on my 2003 XLT. I'm assuming the wiring in the 01' is identical or at least very similar. The wires for the turn signals were actually already in the harness for the mirror. I had to run two additional wires from the harness to each mirror for the light. I purchased the mirror covers that had the light and had them painted to match my truck. The part number for the mirror covers was: 1L3Z-17D743-BAA. These came unpainted, but you may find the part to match your truck. So basically this is a pretty simple upgrade. All you should need is some wire and the covers. The only part I didn't have was the wiring harness that connects the wire to the actual bulb connector, so I just used some push on type connections and they work fine. Hope this helps, let me know if you would like some pics or any other info.

If you are installing the Glamor covers with the signals in them, you will need to modify the stock non signal glamor cap mirror head a bit.

I am looking for the post when a member did this, but the Glamor cap with the signal in it, has a different mirror head, then the others ( the cut out for the signal to show ).

As for is the wiring ready, yes it is. I got the Muth signal mirrors, and installed them on my 01 XLT SCrew.

If you go to Muth's web site, you can download the pdf with the directions for installing the signal mirrors, and they provide the wiring locations, and color codes.

I'll post back the thread if I can find it. It is from 2002 or there abouts.

Not the one I was looking for, but I found where Larry did his.

Gives you a look at where the Dremel work would need to be done.

pw1981 did this, I am still trying to find his write up at the moment. Got to run for now, if you try a search with mirror and his screen name, you might find it straight away.

Good luck
