Exclamation Help -- Problem starting SCREW with security system

HELP. Question. How do you start your Supercrew?
Sounds easy, but mine won't start. I drove it yesterday 150 miles. Turned off the ignition. Turned the key 10 minutes later and my electrical went dead. It's a 2001 -- battery is likely good. Didn't notice any dimming lights or other signs of a weak battery. This seems more like I'm locked out entirely. I take the key out of the ignition, get out, close door, open door and I hear a clicking noise under the column continuously. No lights, dome lights nothing. I put the key in and it won't start at all. Won't even turn over, but the Theft light flashes quickly. I can open the hood and the hood light flashes too, for a few seconds. It's like I'm locked out of my electrical system. Can't lock the doors either. Tried both keys (they have chips) and the remote key fob doesn't work either.

I have a 2001 F-150 Supercrew 4x4, automatic XLT.

Thanks

The first, easiest, and most probable is the battery. test it its four years old.

IF your theft light is flashing fast while attempting to start.. then you are having a PATS issue.. But the noise you describe sounds like some other electrical gremlins too.. Does the clicking noise you hear come from behind the fuse panel.. If so, have you noticed any water leaking in the floor board on driver's side?
If so, you could have a fried GEM module as well. Could be a contributing factor to your no start situation.
If you need anything email me, I will help you anyway I can.
Good Luck

I would strongly suspect your battery is no longer supplying full power to rest of the vehicle.

Could be the battery itself, a bad connection, or a faulty cable.

Low supply voltage will cause all kinds of goofy problems in these Fords.

Yeah, it was the battery.

But I had my truck towed to a garage to find out. No signs of a weak battery, just weird things with the anti-theft light and a clicking noise in a relay in the fuse box under the steering wheel on the interior (not the box under the hood). Had it towed in because I took the battery off, charged it for several hours, which I thought was useless because I knew the battery was good AND the charger said it was good.
the guy at the garage put a load on it with a load tester and said it was bad. Replaced it with a Duralast Gold and it started immediately. Have you ever been towed for a battery -- felt pretty stupid.

And everything was fine until my engine started missing on the way home. Problem #2 -- probably an ignition coil. Had coil #3 replaced at 30,000 miles under warranty. Now it's 67,000 miles, no warranty and at a Ford dealer right now for diagnosis.

Yep, coil #7 this time, and $240 later. Just can't win this week.
