F87Z-12A647-AA $19.11 does not fit my truck.
F3VY-12A647-A $99.00 is the right sensor for my truck.
They look the same, but the plug on each is an inverse of the other one, and will only plug into the correct socket. I put the correct one in and my temp is correct again. That was the fix.

The part you purchased has a Ford number F3VY-12A647-A. You could've picked up a Motorcraft DY-718 and found an identical item in a similar or maybe identical box. Gotta check around my man. Check here first in the future.

You can say that again, thanks for the education.

Outside air temp. sensor
For any of you that need to replace the behind the grille sensor that controls the roof mounted thermometer, you can save yourself some money by getting a Borg-Warner WT381 or equivalent. It'll save you $70 bucks or, as compared to the Ford unit.
Somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago, Borg Warner stopped supplying brass bodied coolant temp. sensors due to corrosion problems as I recall. The WT381 was the plastic replacement. They have since gone back to brass (WT5058).
Funny how Ford changes the name to Ambient Air Temp. Sensor and raises the price to $99. Hmmm, cough (BS) cough.
