Heater controls

I have a 1997 F-150 XLT The temp. **** has always felt like it was pushing or pulling a cable of some sort. But last week when it was 35 below I turned the **** to cool before I parked it for the nite. When I started it in the morning I turned it to warm and it turned very easy much easyer then ever before. The heat did come out the vents but the feel of the control does not feel corect. Is there a vent cable that may have come undone?
Thanks
ZZ

97 The TCK should be vaccum powered. If it still controls the amount of heat then I wouldn't worry about it to much. Just for piece of mind though one possiable explanation is that there was some dirt or something behind the **** makig it hard to turn. When it got cold since everything contracts when it gets cold then it may have made enough of a gap to free the obstacle. There is no way to know for sure but...like I said if it's working then don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

The **** may be cracked and only turning on the post. Happened to me and quite a few others too. Pull it off and check the hole on the back.
