cab lights and steering noise

Trying to handle to problems at once. On my F150, 99 model, when I open the drivers side door, no interior lights come on. They will with the passenger side. I can hit the key fob and they will light. Have I missed the plunger somewhere on the door jam? Can't seem to find one. Or is this switch, relay, or whatever inside the door? Problem number two involves father in laws F150. 97 model and the steering makes a terrible noise. Kinda like wet tennis shoes on a tile floor. Doesn't matter if you turn left or right. Before I bought my F150 I tried many a truck ( used ) and at least 2-3 more trucks did the same. Any help is appreciated, and thanks. Mike

Sounds like the switch inside the door jamb has gone bad or is stuck. Spray liberal amounts of WD40 into the area of the switch. Might help.
As far as the squeek goes, most likely your pitman arm. You have two choices. Either grease it with a needle fitting on a grease gun or replace it.
