Fog Light Switch
I bought a fog light kit off e-bay. It had the lower valence, foglights, harness, and switch. Everything went in with ease except the switch. The kit was for a 99 and I have an 03. The wiring plug does not match up. The P/N on the switch I received is XL3T-11654-DB. Does anyone know what P/N I need and where I can get it cheap. I tried my local junk yards but non of them have any late model ford trucks.

SCREW GREEN - I just thought of something, I am not sure if the switch is going to fix my problem, so if it doesn't, I could probably make you a good deal on the new switch if you are interested.
SCREW GREEN - I figured out my problem and it was not the switch. So, if you are interested, I have a BRAND NEW headlight switch with autolamp and foglight mode that I will sell. Let me know if you are interested.

LightningCrew, on the switch you're selling, can you pull out for fog lights at the parking light position? Is the connector the same as my '02 Screw Lariat w/ autolamp and fog lights?
I would like to run the fog lights with the parking lights only, or with both parking lights and headlights. If this switch does the trick and will drop in, I would like to buy it from you.

No, it does not work in the "parking light" mode.
I did the foglight mod years ago where you take the factory switch and cut it out to where it will pull out in the foglight and autolamp modes. You also have to splice some wires together behind the switch. Again, it worked fine for a few years.
Recently I had a problem where the headlights were coming on when the switch was in the parking light mode and others on this board decided that my switch was bad. I ordered a new switch and installed it. After installing the new switch, I still had the same problem. I ended up going in and removing the wire splices and everything was fixed, however, I can no longer run fogs in the parking light mode.
It is funny how some do this mod and have no problems and others do.
Anyway, the switch I have is probably identical to the one you have from the factory, not allowing foglights unless it is in "headlight" mode.

Thanks for the info! Here's an idea, how about a latching relay circuit? Check out www.the12volt.com and look for "relays", "special applications". Here's the idea: you could use the fog light wire as a source of voltage for the latch, and the parking lights as the latch trigger. When you switch to headlights and fog lights, +12 would enter the relay circuit from the fog lights. Now switch back to parking lights, and since we're using the parking lights as the latch trigger, the fog lights will stay on. To turn them off again, turn off all lights and the circuit will unlatch. The only extra current on the factory circuits will be the tiny amount of current for the two relay coils.
I don't know if that idea would work with the autolamp system, but I don't use mine anyway. Just my 2c (well, more like 20c I guess :-)

Forget the relay mess that I mentioned earlier... I just installed a much cleaner solution for running/fog lights in my '02 Screw w/ autolamps. Please use a voltmeter to check the headlight switch wires before committing to installation! Brown should be parking lights +, and yellow should be fog lights relay +.
Parts/tools:
- PAC TR-7 univeral trigger module ($22 at www.autotoys.com: Go Shopping and search for TR-7)
- 4' of black 18-ga. primary wire
- 8mm socket
- Electrical tape
- Red splice connectors, or if you prefer to solder, soldering iron/solder
- Ring connector for black ground wire
- Wire cutters
- Wire strippers
- Wire ties
Installation:
- Begin by removing the driver's side scuff plate and kick panel, and the headlight switch.
- Run the 18-ga. black wire from the headlight switch down to the green ground bolt in the kick panel.
- Strip the wire, crimp on the ring connector, and bolt it to ground.
- Cut the white and orange TR-7 wires and tape them.
- Trim the TR-7 black wire and splice it to the new ground wire.
- Connect the TR-7 red wire to the brown "running lights +" wire.
- Turn on the TR-7 switch and then the running lights.
- Tap the TR-7 brown wire to ground 3 times.
- Wait 3 seconds and the TR-7 LED will flash 3 times; next the LED will flash rapidly for a few seconds and shut off.
- Turn off the TR-7 switch and then the running lights.
- Cut the brown TR-7 wire and tape it.
- Connect the TR-7 green and blue wires to the yellow "fog lights relay +" wire.
Test:
- Turn on the parking lights and verify the fog lights stay off.
- Turn on the headlights and verify the fog lights stay off.
- Now turn on the fog lights and go back to the parking lights position.
- The fog lights should remain on.
- Turn off all lights and verify the fog lights stay off.
- Turn on the parking lights and verify the fog lights stay off.
- Turn off all lights.
Finish:
- Reinstall the driver's side kick panel and scuff plate.
- As you reinstall the headlight switch, the TR-7 box should fit into the gap above the plastic panel where the headlight wires are run.

Well it worked for a day, then decided to stop... from what I read in the Haynes manual, the yellow is "fog lights relay +". So it should be driving a relay, with the load well under the 2 Amp maximum output of the TR-7 blue wire. I haven't checked yet, whether the TR-7 just lost its programming or is not putting out voltage for some reason... so a relay might be required after all.
