Power door lock problem

My power door lock switch seems to only work about half way, when the doors are locked and you hit the switch to unlock they move up a little but not enough to unlock the doors.
Any ideas?

thanks

You need to change the actuators. Very common problem.

The actuator on my passenger door went out like you describe. Replacing it is not a big job. It took me a couple of hours, but I'm slow and was looking thing over as I went.

My Haynes manual made it a lot easier because it has a lot of step-by-step instructions on removing the door trim and replacing the actuator.

I ordered the actuator from fordpartsonline.com. $41 if I remember correctly. Don't be alarmed if the part looks different than the one that you take out. Mine did. The newer part is not as wide, and actually was easier to install because if fit into the door with less twisting because of it's size.

I'm not aware of a link with pictures, but for $15 or so, you can have one with a Haynes manual. I'm a big fan of their books. I have one for every vehicle that I own.
